Let me begin telling you a bit about myself and my wife Denise.....
I started out as a potter 35 years ago after 6 years of teaching art at the elementary and high school level. That was enough of that! Beginning in 1974, when the craft movemant was starting to take off and everyone was in the "hippie" or "back to land" mode, I taught myself to throw, glaze, and fire a gas kiln with very much trial and error! Pottery is not something you learn overnight! It has taken me years to perfect every aspect of this art/craft form to bring you our website to you.
My wife Denise enjoys cooking and baking and believes the whole purpose of pottery is for food. Face it, What's one of the greatest pleasures of life? Eating! So, she wanted to make our pottery creative, fun, beautiful, and functional - all in one.
My wife, Denise always gets a kick out of going to a "pot luck" of some sort with one of our pieces. She always has the most "popular" dish.
A bit about our process....
The pieces on our website are all created by myself or Denise. We hand design the "master" model and then I make a plaster mold of this piece. This allows us to duplicate the original piece with all the details of the design.
Every piece is pressed, hand trimmed, sanded, bisque fired, waxed, glazed, decorated, gas kiln fired, and then hand inspected for top quality. Everyone working in our studio must be conscious of quality workmanship every step of the process.
